    Hi all,

    im trying to install a game and this error 740 is popping up.

    How can I get rid of this error?

    What game are you installing, and does your dell (which model?) meet the requirements to run the game?

    Are you getting an error similar to this:

    "Unble to execute File:
    C:\programflile\?can'treadmyownwriting?\dreamfall\ directx
    dxsetup.exe
    Create process failed; code 740.
    The requested operation requires elevation."

    Edit: Good question Hal1. Why didn't I ask that...

    Try this and report back.

    Download the DirectX End-User runtime and run it.

    The try the install again.

    Hiya I have downloaded the Directx and still not working.

    BTW the link doesn't work

    Any other advice, sorry all!

    Updates the link paddy. Try now.

    http://www.microsoft.com/directx just follow the links to download the
    latest DirectX.
    You'll get a file called dxwebsetup.exe, run that on your system and see if that fixes the problem.
