Anyone know when the tickets for the qualifier are on sale?? All other qualifiers seem to be onsale on Ticketmaster but not this one. Also heard a rumour that Tyrone are only getting 400 tickets for it - surely this can't be correct???

On the lookout for tickets myself - what I heard is that the Gaelic Grounds in Drogheda can only take 6k and that tickets are being split 50/50 between Louth and Tyrone.

For Louth, I am pretty sure tickets are not going on general sale and are instead being distributed between the clubs. Local club is supposedly raffling it's allocation between members so it's pot luck..

While I can understand the decision to have it in Drogheda, I think it would have been better to hold the game in Navan where they probably be able to meet demand for tickets. Shocking that Louth still hasn't one decent ground, I can imagine the Gaelic Grounds will be fun if we have the rain we've been having of late!

Did you like playing Meath at home in Navan a few years ago..............get a grip man.......we need to keep it in Louth and hopefully someone will do something about it long term

I did until the last couple of minutes!!

I agree we ideally would need to keep it in Louth but if keeping it in Louth means people who otherwise would go missing out, then surely you have to question the decision...

Edit: How can you mention that game and bring back such painful memories? I had them nearly banished from my mind.

Anyone know what sort of distribution individual clubs are getting for the one?

What kind of a chance do Louth have here. From the outside I would have thought that Tyrone are a sure thing

I rang the O Raghallaighs last week and was told to listen to LMFM as they would announce if tickets are on general sale. I haven't got tickets myself yet and despite enduring the country n western tinged ballads that LMFM spouts out these days (no doubt catering for the mid-Louth region) didn't hear any announcement.
I'm gonna head there early on Saturday. I think that if it's a toss up between safety and €€€€€€€€, the GAA will just let anyone with cash in. With just 5 thousand there on Saturday, the Gaelic Grounds would look quite empty too.

I see Shane Lennon in the Metro giving it loads. We won't throw in the towel!! he gushes! Let's see Lennon, can't remember last time he had a good Championship game...bring back Cathal O'Hanlon.

Would anyone agree that the Tyrone fans are not the most pleasant folk about? I remember going to the replay in Omagh the year before last and being struck by how horrible their fans were in general -rude/obnoxious.

Thanks for bringing the pain of Navan up again horse!!

Remember, always flush twice...Meathmen will eat anything!!

Garrincha... just a hunch but I feel they'll make an announcement during the 'Green Scene' on Saturday morning.. Either that or 'Radio Romance' some night ...

I got my ticket this evening via my father who is heavily involved with a club in Drogheda, 15 euro for a terrace ticket for saturday night.

The club he is involved with got 70 tickets to distribute amongst members, another friend from another town in Louth called me and he told me all they got was 55 tickets to distribute amongst members
Tickets are very scarce on the ground for this one, never thought i would say that after all the years i have been following Louth.
A friend who is doing steward there on saturday has told me there is no way cash will be taken at the turnstiles, it is strictly all ticket .
Gardai and stewards will be doing a ticket inspection on the approaches to the ground.
I dont know exactly how strict they will be, i dont have a ticket for my 7 year old, but am bringing him with me and hope they wont stop me bringing him into the ground with me on the 1 ticket.
    Up Louth !

Do you have a back up plan for if you're turned away from one of the check points to get your kid home? If not I'd come up with something before hand because I'd give you about a 20% chance of getting him in the way things have gone lately. (Saw a guy turned away from a game with a 6 month old in his arms recently) You wouldn't want to have to miss the game yourself because you had to bring the kid home after being turned away.

I'd have to agree with what Stealdo said. The way things go sometimes with kids/babies for tickets is ridiculous and even OAPers have been faced with requests to pay the standard amount.

If you had a stand ticket,I'd be more hopeful for your case as you could sit your son on your lap but with terracing and the capacity issue (4,500 I hear) it looks very dodgy. They may let you in with him and then again they may not with health and safety concerns ie your son getting crushed.

I'm not so familiar with the new stadium in Drogheda.I'd go early as possible and suss it out and argue your case to high water if they refuse you and your son.My other advice is to look for a swap for a stand ticket if the stewards don't let you in.

I can't see any problem with admittance via Plan B.If there is,then you seriously have to consider your options for the next game should Louth pull through on Saturday evening.

I am working on getting an adult ticket for my little lad, i am fair sure i will get my hands on it, just waiting on a call back, hopefully get fixed up this evening

Some kids tickets were available from the country board i believe ,distributed to the clubs and no cost on them,

Really looking forward to a good evening in the O'Raghallaighs on saturday night, there hasnt been a championship match up there in years,

A further 500 tickets will be released by louth county board this evening and distributed to clubs, close to 300-400 tickets have also been returned by Tyrone
500 tickets released due to an extra junior match now scheduled in before the big game.

Update on the supposed relase of extra tickets, the health and safety officer ruled against it last night, so no extra tickets were issued
The only spare tickets floating round the county now are the returns from Tyrone.

I assume you are talking about the returns from Tyrone?
I would imagine these will be redistributed through the clubs - spoke to quite a few unhappy people who've been to league games etc. but haven't got tickets - seems like a lot of other people haven't bothered looking (myself included) given the scarcity..

Heard Croke Park were allowing 500 extra tickets to bring total up to 5K but this was disallowed by the local fire officer on safety grounds.

Why do we not have a decent county ground. There are smaller counties than our who have much better grounds. Look at O'Moore Pk !!!

Even when we built a stand it was too small and substandard. Tyrone have likened the ground to a Division 3 ground or Accrington Stanley !! They say the pitch is too narrow and bumpy.

Why aren't we in Navan or in for the double header with Monaghan v Derry ??

    Same Louth disarray.

Yeah it's a shambles. I've met quite a few supporters with no tickets. Anyone know any secret ways into the grounds? A few pints of white lightning before the game in mother hughes will help. reckon they will open the gates at halftime...

Does anyone have an update on ticket availability?

What would my chances be of turning up a few hours before hand and picking one up? Face value either off the ground or someone selling?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 377 ✭✭garrincha62

No news chief. I'm gonna head up early and see if any are being released too...good luck

Sorry about dragging up an old thread but I've been told that people with kids were turned away, any truth in this?
