Medium distance wireless connection

    Hey all,

Our neighbour lives about 500 m away from us and has a broadband (ADSL) connection. Our phoneline isn't suitable and I was hoping that there maybe a way to wirelessly connect to their network (with their permission of course!).

Wifi is only suited to a couple of hundred metres, so that's out. Is it possible to install a WiMax system at home? Perfect line of sight will be difficult because of trees.

I understand that a lot of this will have to be "hush hush" cos:
    1. It's probably against the neighbour's ISP's terms and conditions to sharee their internet connection.
    2. medium distance wireless communications probably require a licence.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers.

Have a look at www.wi-pipe.com based in waterford. No connection, just recommended to me, and I am looking at using some of this gear for a similar solution myself.

I just notcied you are based in France also, but in Ireland, there are licence free solutions, mainly 2.4ghz, with some limitations, 5.8ghz is licence free but has to be registered.
