Nintendo said it is "rumor and speculation". We should know by E3.

What, so will it be a new console altogether or and upgrade, much like the Lite was?

If it's just an update, would that not mean that games that are out at the moment would be all stretched and ugly looking on the widescreens?

clearly fake. the screens aren't even in line with each other. it is just a better way for them to show off their game in this picture.

Yup thats what they said on N-Europe, screens not alligned, definitely a fake

Well you can't really call it fake because it is an ad and they are advertising a DS game. They aren't trying to make up that a new Widescreen DS is on it's way.

well you can really because the title of this thread is to do with a new DS and not a new disgaea game.

But someone isn't trying to leak a new DS. It is an advert. If a new DS does come out and if it looks like this, I'm sure it would of being a mistake.

The rumors existed prior to that add so don't focus on it so much.

Personally I think a widescreen ds is both unlikely & a stupid idea.
The ds would presumably have to become wider, or the vertical size of the screen would have to be decreased.

Stretching the visuals on older games would not be an attractive option.

The PSP was conceived as more of a multimedia console, hence the 16:9 screen
Unless I've missed something Nintendo haven't been trying to sell movies for the DS so far.

It would be a stupid idea for the above reasons and why would nintendo do this?

Why mess up a good thing? If anything they'll make a micro DS or something and just make it smaller. Messing with specs is not a good idea half way through a products life and Nintendo have not really done it in the past and have never needed to in order to sell a device so there is little reason to believe they'd start now.

If there is anything new for DS other than games, I imagine its peripherals.

Wow. I thought a few people would like to see a Widescreen DS. I'd love to see it.

What features would people like to see on a new DS?

Multitouch would be nice and maybe accelerometers

F00k it we may as well add rumble and a built in projector. And it has to be smaller than the DS

id like to see more powerful, better looking games by utilising the GBA port for DS games, something similiar to what they did for the N64. I very rarely use the slot anyway. its either this idea or they'll take the slot away for a more compact ds though i doubt they will with the release of that new fitness game and guitar hero using the slot now.
