Thing is Im not really a beginner at playing, when i say beginner i mean Im hoping to build my own strat but have absolutely no idea where to start or how to go about it....I play guitar with no idea on the inner workings of the thing....read somewhere online that a squire is a good starter for people on a budget who later hope to customise their guitar with add-ons etc....
Just lookin for feedback on anyone whos interested in the whole "taking it apart and puttin it back together" process!:)

You could do that with any guitar really but yeah, a squire wouldn't be a bad one if you're planning to do all the work yourself and learn as you go.

A strat is easy to get parts for, but an SX strat would be cheaper and probably just as good as a Squier for your purposes, maybe better. Stock Fender parts will work fine and the SX has a decent body and neck. That's assuming you want to swap out the tuners, bridge, pots, pickups, scratchplate etc.

You might need to drill a couple of extra holes to fit a new scratchplate (I don't think all the holes line up exactly), and you should be able to find tuners and a bridge that will fit exactly or very close (I haven't done this with an SX so I can't confirm).
