This may not be the appropriate forum because its more of a riddle than a joke, so mods please move if its in the wrong place.

3 MEN GO INTO A HOTEL.
THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30
SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25
SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL
    OF $27

ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

    WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

Yeah I know this one but can't be bowered writing it down.
    It's deliberate miscalculation.

He got an extra dollar himself.

He got an extra dollar himself.

But the $2 dollars he took was added in!!

ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.
This is the problem. The 27 already contain the boy's 2 dollars. The rest 28, 29, 30 goes to the men.

He took $3, not $2. $1 dollar each includes him, he is one of the three men. So he took $1+$2 = $3

    Edit; ok, I misread it.

you don't add the 2 dollars the bell boy takes, you subtract it. This means that the lads paid 27 dollars between them, 25 to the owner and 2 to the bell boy. No mystery i'm afraid

What, he had 3 single dollars and a 2-dollar note? :)

They paid 10 each for the room, and got 1 back each, so ened up paying 9 each. Out of that 27, the bellboy got 2 and the hotel got 25.

I still want to know where that 2-dollar note came from.

US army paid their GI's in WW2 in 2$ notes, so they could track which brothels and bars their troops were using.

Nice puzzle, I remember a Maths teach in secondary school telling us it. I seem to remember he made us wait a few days before telling us the answer.
I still want to know where that 2-dollar note came from.
    Here's one:

I'm note advocating printing this out or anything ;).
