    Hoping someone can help:

Have Iomega external HD that I normally use on my Mac (time machine) that I now need to use on XP machine.

When I attach the HD to XP I am getting the normal icon in sys tray (safely remove hardware) but when I look in My Computer the HD is not there.

Can anyone tell me how I can get this HD to be reconised? Do I need to format drive? If so, how?

    Thanks.

    Connected by USB?
    What format is it currently?

Go to Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management Can you see it there? If you can use this to format. Of course this will erase all current data on HD, if you didn't know.

If you have been using it with Time Machine its been formatted as HFS Plus, which Windows cannot read by default. You will need to reformat the drive for use in Windows, but Time Machine will not work with anything but HFS Plus due to the way it stores files and will need to be formatted back again if you want to use the drive this way.

Thought it was time machine causing the problem alright.

    Thanks.
