Help needed to setup new online newspaper

Hi everyone i am in the process of setting up Dundalks first online newspaper and i was wondering if there is anyone out there that would like to get involved. the paper will be in pdf format and will be emailed to 1600 people (so far) every week or alternatively can be downloaded for the website still loads to do on that. so if you would like to do some writing for it or even if you just have so ideas feel free to let me no any feed back will be greatly appreciated.

If I'm honest I wouldn't be impressed with the Logo. Looks rather unprofessional especially if its a newspaper look you're trying to achieve.

Are you looking for any kind of writer? Or writers who specialise in specific areas? I might know someone who'd be interested. Would it be a paid job?

I too don't like the logo. It doesn't say anything to me and indeed I find it a bit gross. Sorry.

Good luck with the project though - it really sounds worthwhile.

Yeah the logo is a bit off putting. Using a real photo is never really a good idea when designing a logo. Also use a font the is readable and attention grabbing.

I've attached a simple logo as an example.

Have you secured a website address yet? You do know the Dundalk Democrat (dundalktoday.ie) and Argus (argus.ie) also have a their paper online.

I know my way round photoshop and would be happy to redo your logo for you if you like.

Fairplay for trying this; so tired of the self interested sh*te I read in the other local papers, particulalrly the Argus...they've some cheek asking 2 quid for it, given the standard of journalism...

Thanks to everyone for the feedback so far and i would really appreciate if someone could help me with the design of the front page logo. also regarding the writing i cant afford to pay anyone as of yet but i have some advertisers lined up and and i am sure we can work something out and any story's would be a big help as i am seriously thinking of quiting my job and running with this full time. and Wertz that would be brill if you could help out also i might need some ads done as well so feel free to throw some ideas at me email me at <snip>cheers

I am really intrested in getting into journalism! I'm doing an event management degree at the mo but i would be intrested if you were looking for anyone to do pieces on music/fashion..things like that which i have a genuine love for. Maybe you need qualified people but like small articles on such items i would definitly love to do!

Sorry I did promise you a logo but work is a bit crazy and just been too tired.

Anyways, here's what an hour or so came up with. Idea didn't take long...getting the damn wind turbine right did though.
I've included 2, one with an eye, one without...prefer the one without myself.
Perhaps the font is a little too "Democrat"? I have the original PSD if so and can find something less similar maybe...

tried to do something like this years ago...didn't really catch on in Dundalk
dundalktown.com....although i didn't put too much work into it !
