Just back from Life Festival and despite the dreadful weather i must say it is undoubtely one of the best festivals ive been at in Ireland, the atmosphere was brilliant as was the music, far better than the rip off mainstream festivals, who says you need big name acts to have a festival, and it's opened my eyes and changed my opinion about some musical styles most notably psy Trance, some of the stuff i heard was excellent, pounding music with weird bleeps, landscapes sounds and distorted loops, music to fcuk with your brain as i was saying, also i liked some of the dubstep that was played, not all of it but some of it was very good, and Dub Reggae i could really get into, some of the stuf i heard was brilliant, i gave minimal my final ever listen to ever at the festival and seriously cant get into it whatsoever, it really is dull as fcuk, monotous and going nowhere!!!!!

Respect to Simon F and crew for rinsing out an old skool hardcore set right at the end last nite, was an amazing session and the crowd went for it big style.

Still fcuked here and will upload videos sometime this week.:)

    Respect to Life Festival.

I'm annoyed I passed out early on Sunday night having basically stayed up all of Saturday night and I missed the Old Skool set (as well as Penta and Max Romeo).

The rain and mud was annoying, but at the same time all part of the fun. Spent an hour or two on Saturday night stomping around in the mud at the Neutronyx stage. The Breaks tent was insane, ColdCut and SubSource being the highlights. Really enjoyed relaxing on the hill in front of the Amphitheatre (which was the most awesome stage I've ever seen) and in the Chill Out Zone, where music went on all night.

I've looked forward to this for months and was not let down.

Coldcut were undoubtely the highlight of the weekend for me for sure, they absolutely tore the place apart with their unique brand of filthy electro/breakbeat/hip hop mashup, the Chill Out arena was amazing to get away from the madness, every tent really was good in it's own way, the nicest being Neutronyx, right amongst the trees with some amazing backdrops and that mental pys Trance with it's mental loops, weird landscape sounds, andf distorted bleeps.

Good to see Finlay Quaye having a toke in the chill out arena around 4am on the Saturday:D

Yeah the Neutronyx stage was fantastic! It was really wild at times, with the rain and wind and the trees blowing around overhead... awesome stuff

Had an awesome time at Life festival aswell.
I honestly couldn't get into Psytrance till I went to the Neutronyx stage and then it all made sense!
I found a love for Drum 'n Bass too after Dj Markys set in the Breakology tent.

Enjoyed every single minute of it. Had a ball. Didn't think it would be that good, in fact at times in the past few weeks was saying to the wife that maybe we should have gone to something more mainstream. But it turned out to be a blast. Didn't mind the weather or the small bit of mud. Spent most of the weekend between the Connected and Min Zen tents, dropped into Breakology a good few times. Neutronyx was great, as was the chill out area. In fact the only place I kinda missed was the amphitheatre with the likes of Finley Quaye.

I went to this, not my secene at all but had a good time.
The one thing I was surprised about was the amount of babies parents brought with them. Just didn't seem like a safe place to have small kids.

How about the kid in the mudbath...

Was surprised at the number of kids too. But there was such a feelgood vibe about the place and such a complete lack of grief or aggro, I'd say they were pretty safe. Everyone was all loved up, people offering drink and cigarettes and more to total strangers. The only concern would be noise levels and their ears.

A number of people lost drugs and I even saw some just left on the ground where kids were wandering around.

Where? Where? You think they might still be there?

It's something that I didn't think of and I guess anything is possible. But can't say I was tripping over syringes. I'd say a child who could pick out a pill from that mud deserves some cub scout badge!

    What a weekend! :D
Mud, hippies, trees, rain, Sunshine ,Psytrance, dnb, decent food, + no corporate logos printed everywhere, all made for a great weekend.

    Highlights

    Penta
    Hallucinogen
    Fungusok
    Coldcut
    Skream!
mekkanikka (except that one dodgy tune) ermmm
And plenty more hazy moments of ecstacy.

    Roll on next year!

Hadn't thought of the no logo thing.

There was just such a feelgood vibe about the place. Lots of people sharing their booze, ciggies and more with complete strangers.
