    Hi all,
Just got windows and doors installed. All looked good till i measued door to floor height, the finished floor level will be 5 inches, 2 doors were approx 4 inches above foundation level and front door was a total of 8 inches. I would have presumed all doors would have been 5 inches minimum. Have i missed something?

    Thanks,
    Peter

I assume you are talking about finished floor level here and not foundations?

If that the case maybe you are measuring incorrectly as the front door will be higher than the internal doors.

    I cant stress this enough
    USE THE CORRECT TERMONOLOGY
you are building a house not lego, if you want advice on a door height give a height (in mm, its the other side of the tape for gods sake) from a recognised datum, floor slab, ceiling, screed. if you dont know what it is ask the builder.
If you drove into a garage and told them your steering wheel was punctured what response do you think you would get?

and before this gets filed as a rant to answer your question.
your finished floor level will be higher than the outside ground level by min 150mm (6";)) this accounts for the height difference on the front door when viewed from outside. There will also be a marginal upstand on the inside above the screed for the storm threshold.
Secondly, they should not be putting in the internal doors before the screed is poured

Easy on now Slig. We do make allowances for the fact that a lot of people who post here may not be familiar with the metric system or the various terminologies involved with building.

No need for the nasty response, 1 inch equates to 25mm. I never referred to internal doors. I posted the question as i am not in the building industry and i have posted a few on here and i find the responses invaluable.

    Hi Muffler,
Front door currently is 200mm above raft foundation floor, finished floor level will be approx 150mm above this, that leaves the door 50mm too high.
The other doors i referred to are the back doors and a side door, these are only 100mm above foundation floor level and when finished floor is added(150mm) leaving them 50mm too low.
    Thanks,
    Pete

the doors are wrong and need to be changed.

what height is the underside of the head of the front, back and side doors over the proposed finished floor level?
are th eheads at the front side and rear doors at the same level, if not was this a design feature?

Was in contact with company, all doors(total of 3) has to be changed, the measurements were not taken, all doors were supplied at a height of 2150. Big mistake on part of company, getting it sorted.
    Thanks a mill,
    Peter
