    Hi,

I'm one of the last bastion of people in the developed world without a television. Mainly because I'd rather not have one.

This may seem like a silly question, but is there any way I can get a custom subscribtion of a select few non-terrestrial channels? 5/6 channels max?

I just can't bear having so many channels. I've lived in houses with digital before which invariably leads me sitting down in front of the television all night. My ideal television is one where the only possible channels are the Discovery channel and the Irish channels. Is such a set-up possible? If so, how can I get it? cost?

    Thanks

    No
But you can create 1 to 50 favorites. only see program guide for those and only watch those.

Minimum Subsciption is required for RTE/TV3/TG4.
Minimum worthwhile sub is Knolwedge and Variety Mix pack. (About 26 Euro p.m.)

Or Get FreeSat or Free To Air satellite and have only free satellite, delete the channels you don't want. Does do BBC/ITV and about 40 watchabpe chs out of 200 junk.
No Discovery without Sky Knowledge pack.

RTE free on a TV aerial

You could get the knowledge mix for €20 per month and you get the bonus mix (rte/tv3 etc) with it. Bit costly though for a few channels though!

The OP is probably an ideal candidate for pay-TV on DTT, whenever it happens. However, this is the Satellite forum, so maybe a UK Freesat box? No monthly subscription, and not many channels on it atm.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah 20pm is a bit on the expensive side for what I want.

The custom favourites guide may work, although It would feel like a bit of a waste paying for all those channels for nothing.

Come to think about it I don't even want the Irish channels - Too many distractions! I'd be happy to have just the discovery channel on its own.

Is Sky really the only way to get the discovery channel? Is there no other provider that could accomodate me?

For Discovery, I'm afraid it's part of a subscription everywhere, that I'm aware of.
