Was just walking along the Tolka river in Drumcondra today and noticed how fast and high the river was. Normally it's only that strong in winter but anyway, i was just wondering why hydro power is not more prevalent along Irish rivers? Also why not construct large resevoirs in non scenic upland areas and use gravity to power turbines? Is it not cost effective or something? I heard that in future with global warming we will get more rain so why not capitalise on this rain we have become reknowned for and especially if we are gonna get more of it in the future?
