    Hi all

Could anyone provide me some advice with this? I am moving home back to Ireland and thinking about living in the Ashtown area.
Meteor have offered me a job but its in citywest. I'm outta dublin 5 years now so not up to date with the traffic situation etc.

How long would it take me to drive there in the morning? Is the M50 hell going in this direction in the morning?
Is there anyway of getting between the two with public transport?

    Thanks in advance

    Traffic is brutal, M50 especially.

Would you consider living closer to CityWest? Maybe look at what buses serve CityWest and live on/near one of those routes. Or ask Meteor if they have any car pooling programme or people living near you.

I would not use the M50 from ashtown. When the works are done it might be better though. If you have to live there you might be better off taking the back roads to Lucan then up the newcastle road and come out at rathcoole which is just by citywest.
Not sure what teh traffic is like that way... it may actually take longer than the M50 but its another option.

With the state of Lucan due to the N4/Newcastle Road roadworks, that could also be a problem for the next 6 months to a year....

Thats true... M50 is probably the best bet. Or move closer.

Ashtown to town on train and the 50 to Citywest, I'd allow 90 minutes all in for that commute. Your fares wouldn't be far off tolls alone on the M50.

    Hi

Thanks everyone for the replies. How long then would it take to drive it,its only 20km? You can see I've been away for a while :p probably...

I presumed that most of the traffic would be going in the opposite direction coming in from the naas road at those times?

depends on the time you leave, if you leave at 7.30am you'd be there by 8.15, if you leave later it could take over an hour, maybe more. Now these times are based on pre-upgrade and with toll barrier in place, it should conceivably improve a lot.
Coming home may be the problem, but you can always scoot off at the n4 and up through phoenix park if the m50 is bad at that stage of the evening.
