Anyone know were is the best place to pick one of these up ?

Also because of the distance does it effect ping ?

Was wondering if you can also do it with a 250m cat cable or even a 500m ? and would that effect pings ?

I know this sounds mad and you be wondering why on earth would u want this. But we have 4 family houses all beside one another. The wireless just does not work so we were thinking of just using cat cat5. Also think 250m would be the longest we would need.

If in wrong section please move mod.

    Cat5E.
100 meters is the max reliable lenght including the computers so say about 95 meters and 5 meters for your computer. Then if you go over the 100 meter mark you will need to use hardware ie a switch a hub etc.

80m would be nearer the actual max from my experience, You'll need a switch every 80m

If 80s your max you must be doing something incorrectly.
Ya if you want 4 * 5 meter lenghts of patch cables.
    100 meters is the standard.

So 100 max your saying or i need some sort of switch,
What exactly is a switch ? and does it require a power source ?

Anyone know a good online store to buy a 75 to 100m Lan cable ?

    Thanks

    After 100m i'd go with a repeater...and i wouldn't go with a straight line of 100m of cable - device - 100m of cable - device for more than 4 cycles...

but 75m should be ok without any degradation.
