Applying For a PT Job - Cover Letter

    Hi

I am starting college in Sept, away from home.

I want to apply for jobs now so am going to send my CV's to a number of companies (the usual - Dunnes, Tesco, Pennys)

I don't think many of them are hiring now or perhaps have enough staff at the moment.

Would it help me if I was to include a Cover Letter explaining that I was going to college and hoping to study Business (Including Management) and that I would like to build up experience in a retail enviroment etc.

Would it be too much to say I am 100% dedicated to my work and by them helping me with providing me with a job that I am willing to put in the work to succeed.

I just need to have a job sorted before Sept or I won't be able to go to college.

    Any advice!

I would include a letter - keep it short and to the point though as people dont want to read an essay.
One tip would be to find out who the HR/Recruitment managers are for the companies you are applying for and address the letter and CV directly to them. This info should not be hard to find with a couple of phone calls.
Also, make sure there are no spelling/grammer mistakes on your letter or CV - you would be surprised how many I have seen with basic mistakes and this leaves a terrible first impression.
