    How can I take stills from a DVD for a specific still /scene which i would like to have as a photo??

    Easy....

    Pause it where you want

    Press Print Screen, (should be top right on your keyboard)

    Open Microsoft Paint - Start - All Programs - Accesories - Paint

    Once it is open, right click and press paste.

    Or just Ctrl V

    Now you will see the picture there.

    Now in paint, with the picture open, press Esc,

    By dragging the *line* you can select the whole picture or just the part you want, once you have what you want, copy it by right click and copy, than open a new file, in Paint, and copy it in there.

    Just save it as what you want, eg bitmap or Jpeg

    And that is that, it is easy after a few times

    vlc has a built in snapshot feature where you press a button (S maybe) and it asks you what to call it and where to save it.
