Making a CD with photos and music background

I have lots of photos from a wedding and what I would like to do is to make a CD/DVD of all the photos like a slideshow with each photo showing for 5 /10 secs and then moving on with music in the background also. I would like the CD /DVD to play just like a normal DVD when i put it into the DVD player. rather than what happens when I save photos on the DVD then they come up as thumbnails and menus and its all a bit slow.

P.S. how would i make one of these slideshows with music in the background so it could be shown on a mobile phone? - how could i do it in flash? - save it as a specific file type.

Get Nero 8, beg borrow or steal it

In there you can do it, as all the options are there for what you want

the way i do it is with an editing program (adobe premiere or windows movie maker) and a dvd authoring program (iirc there is free dvd program with vista) there maybe easier ways than this but this is one way.

open up windows movie maker. drag the pics and songs to the timeline and adjust to your liking. export the timeline as an mpeg2 file. open the mpeg2 file with the dvd authoring app and create your menus and stuff and burn the dvd.

+1 for the movie maker. It's a very easy way to make a great DVD.

You could also try photostory - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx

Its free and its pretty good. I made a picture slideshow with music backround for a 50th party and burned it to play on a dvd player, it worked out fairly well. There are great tutorials at http://www.papajohn.org/ . Just go to the photostory link on the left. If you use this make sure you use the papajohn dvd burning profile. The one in the application is crap.

I've done it in Movie Maker - it's surprisingly effective and looks pretty good (check out the link in my signature for something I threw together in an hour).

However, there is one major problem you should be aware of when making such DVDs of your snaps - when you have friends over, and are after consuming a few drinks, you will be very tempted to whip out the DVD and consequently bore everybody to tears.

    At least that's what I do. :o
