    Hey

Just wondering if anyone knows what qualifications you need to teach art?? Do you need an art degree. Friend of mine working in the architecture/interior design industry is looking to change careers but doesn't fancy going back to college for another 3 yrs. She has a degree (not entirely sure what it is) but said I'd check out the requirements anyway.

    Postgraduate Programmes

Higher Diploma in Art for Art & Design Teachers

    Programme Description
The main aim of the course is to prepare graduates for a career in teaching. Emphasis is placed on a concept of teaching as a creative activity, demanding capacities for problem-solving, inventiveness, imagination and sensitivity.

The course is designed for art, craft and design specialists who have confidence in their own artistic abilities, and who are genuinely interested in teaching and the education of young people.

your friend is too late to apply for any irish postgraduate courses this year but if she hurries she may make clearing in the uk and might get a place for september.

    Things course providers look for:
    A portfolio
    Experience in a classroom
    Enthusiasm!

It's a bloody tough year so she'd want to be sure and not just doing it on a whim. Good luck!

Is there a forum in Ireland like Eteach in the UK that can help out with getting teaching jobs without the H-Dip Qualifiaction? I have written to Eteach about temporary jobs and they sent me on forms to fill out for South Wales, but before I do I am looking for teaching in Ireland. If any1 would could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:
