I decided to start this thread on hearing Alice's Schools Out on an ad on telly( That song is 36 years old:eek:)I am a massive Alice fan and have most of his stuff spanning the years good and bad, which is a lot.

I have seen him live 6 times in the past 16 years and the show has always been amazing, has never disappointed.

Just wondering what do the majority of rock/metal fans think of him beyond "the persona" and the song poison?

Sometimes I like him, sometimes not. School's Out is one of the greatest rock songs ever written, it must be said, what a great riff. I'd generally prefer the older stuff, the 70's stuff, over the likes of Poison, the mega-production 80's tunes.

What's he up to these days?

He used to have a classic rock show on Today FM on Saturday evenings, but not anymore unfortunately. I think he still does the radio presenting on other stations worldwide.

His radio was syndicated all over the world.
He turned 60 this year and is releasing his 25th album this month.
He will probably be touring also. if not he is probably playing golf.

I too prefer all the 70's stuff a lot of the newer stuff can be hit and miss.

Live he is one of the best, but his 80's stuff was patchy, and has released as much bad as good since then. When it is good it is very good, when bad............

But his 70's back cat is full of classic after classic. He had a huge influence over so many musicians, past and present.

Saw him at Vicar St the last time he was here, amazing performer still! I'm a fan of the old stuff too, Killer/School's Out/Billion Dollar Babies and Welcome To My Nightmare are all-time classics.

Can't say I'm a fan.... but I did happen to stumble across his new album earlier today.... it's not actually released until the 29th july according to wikipedia though...

I'm not a big fan to be honest, but I do like his earlier stuff and would love to see him live.

A couple of years ago I picked up his "Dirty Diamonds" album, terrible!
