I joined this year, and find the Club very good.

Members are very friendly and I have been well taken care of since I joined. The course itself is maybe not the best one around, but there are alot of good holes and all around a very good challenge.
I play off 18 and struggle to find any bad holes on the course, maybe exept the short 4th and the 12th green.

The drainage and the greens are not as good as on the new courses like; Millicent, Rathcore, Moyvalley, Dunmurry Springs, but holds up well and is playable all year round.
(They closed it on Saturday due to the rain, and we went over to Knightsbrook instead. That is a faboulus course, getting better every year, greens are great so are the fairways, but what stands out is the design. Got soaked on last nine, but course was still playable with all the rain)

Anyway, the old clubhouse is a great building, nice athmosphere and food is quite nice as well, the pro and staff are all stars.

Don't know anything about the owner having all the rights...You join by buying a share, but I guess that the owner would still have some shares to sell.
But you are right, try the other courses around, like the ones I mentioned, they are all great courses and all should be tested before joining any club in North Kildare.

Sorry to hijack the tried but didnt want to start a new one.

I am looking at joining Longford golf club and just want some advise on what the course is like. I live in maynooth and am looking at Longford because the distance membership is only €300. I just want to play in a few comps and get a GUI H-Cap.

    Thanks for any advise given.
