Where can I pick up some berocca? Does it work for the old hangover? Are there any tablets you can take before drinking that will help?

    Where -
Most supermarkets (Tesco for definite) and all chemists. \

    Advice -
Go for the tablet from instead of the disolvable if your not feelign the best the disolving one may make you heave.

    Does it work -
I didnt find it did. Just drink water, Berocca isnt a miracle tablet.

    Side Effects -
Luminous urine that reeks of sugar puffs

Look, all these miracle hangover cures don't work. Why? The damage has already been done. You will be dehydrated.

Best thing to do to minimise a hangover.

    1) The obvious, don't kill yourself with drink. Space out your pints. Drink 2 or 3 glasses of water while drinking. (Doing this alone works wonders).

    2) Have a pint of water before you sleep. If you can remember, take a multivitmin with it to replenish the body.

    3) Have a lay in, and when you wake up - have a shower, drink a glass or water - have a slice of toast and go for a walk. The walk will wake you up. I find that lazing around on a couch all day just makes you feel even worse. If you go for a short walk, it will make you feel alot better.

I didn't think Berocca is meant as a hangover cure. It's great for pepping you up when you're tired I find.

All they are, are a super concentrated dose of vitamin B and C (860% rda of vitamin B12 for example) so I find them great for getting through the working day if you've been out the night before, but they won't cure nausea or a banging headache.

You'd probably be best off dissolving them in a pint of water and drinking it before you go to sleep, but it's more than likely just the liquid that will help, rather then the Berocca itself.

Have a freezing cold shower, always works for me.

    Correct.

I've tried the whole drinking water with pints and drinking water before going to bed but whenever I wake up I ALWAYS have a splitting headache and generally feel like crap.

Do you take the berocca before sleeping.

I find if I take one plus lots of water through the night, I'm fine - albeit slightly tired.

Well, you're drinking too much. If you drink too much, no matter what you do - you'll still feel awful. It will only help you, the headache - you can take fizzy-good-make-feel-nice.

Man, if I only have 5 or 6 pints over a normal length of time I'll still feel crappy the next day. I'm not talking about a load of pints and shorts etc.

Good healthy meal before you go out.
Lots of water during the day.
A couple of pints of water before bed.

You'll still be hungover, but this will lessen it a bit.

Salted peanuts help a bit too while you're drinking as alcohol tends to flush the salts from your body.
    Just the one packet though.

Comfort food helps you through the day.
    Forget the fry up.
    Get a McDonalds instead.

Headaches after drinking are simply a result of your brain being dehydrated. It's like a sponge that starts to dry up. You have to give it loads of water to get it back to how it should be.

McDonald's with a hangover? Ugh. That'd make me sick.

I find if you have a good meal before, drink a pint of water after and eat a nutri grain before going to sleep you're set. Shower and water in the morning.

    These tablets are quite good...

Half litre bottle of water, 2 berroca, 2 solpadine. Mix, consume. Gets rid of the headache, replenishes water, vitamins and minerals.

AFAIK hangovers are caused by 2 things:
    1) Dehydration
    2) Ethanal

The dehydration contributes to the headache and some other general hung-overness.
The ethanal (as far as i know) contributes a lot to being hung over and can't be cured.
As the liver processes ethanol (the chemical which makes you drunk) it is converted to ethanal. Ethanal causes hangovers to such an extent that a drug called Antabuse is used to prevent the further breakdown of ethanol so as to give alcoholics a very bad reaction to alcohol, keeping ethanol in their system.
Since I'm not a doctor or anything, I'm not sure about how right I am.Perhaps It would account for variences in hangover severity between people though. Some people may be naturally better at breaking down ethanal, which is eventually converted into harmless acetic acid.

In short, there is no cure for a hangover, multi vit's etc. are a load of ****e.

I love all these wonder cures for a hangover!!!

The thing with Berocca and any other Multivitamin with an RDA of over 100% is that the body will take what it needs and then excretes the rest. That is why urine after taking Berocca is luminous in colour as gthe body has just excreted 760% of vitamin C. You'd get your complete RDA of vitamin C in an orange a day. The same on and on for the other vitamins labelled on the pack,

Hangovers and cures are different for everybody. Smokers will have a greater headache than non smokers as they have mixed other chemicals with the alcohol that has a worsening effect. When I stopped smoking I noticed my hangovers lightened, although never disappearing.

For me, no matter how much I drink I tend to wake widely at approx. 5 or 6am. It used to bother me but now I have realised that it is my cue to drink a pint of water and take 2 Anadin Max Strength (or whatever is around) and go back to sleep. When I later wake I am mostly good except tired.

Try It! I like Berocca too but only to feel good about the fact I am adding vitamins I might be renaging on throughout my daily lifestyle.

I fid a Lemsip Max good for a hangover. the painkiller in it helps with the headache and the cold-like symptoms I get after a night on the beer. But thats just me. I find Berocca just makes me sick.

Same with me yesterday. I got up at 8am, had a few pints of water and toast and then slept soundly for another few hours, woke up later feeling grand!

I swear by a pint of berocca before I go out and another when I get in or if I'm really that drunk and fall asleep in the hall, when I wake up in the morning. I find I never get hangovers if I take my berocca's. :D
