    I'm a total tool.

    When I'm on-call I usually wear jeans and a t-shirt. Last night, I was wearing a collared t-shirt.

I was also wearing my baby stethoscope around my neck. The collar protected my delicate neck skin from stethoscope chaffing. Very comfortable.

    Too comfortable, in fact.

I left work. Went straight for a stroll into town. Went and had brekkie in a coffee shop. Went to the supermarket. Went to clothes shop, and lots of small shops along the way.

I got this really odd feeling that people kept staring at me, and I couldn't work it out.

Then i got home, and went to get into bed for a snooze. As I took off my tshirt, I realised I'd been wearing my stethoscope all over town for the entire morning. It's only tiny, so I didn't feel the weight.

I know...you had to be there :p But i thoguht it was mildly amusing. But then again I was sleep deprived :D

Ahhh Tallaght. . . I work in a North Dublin Hospital, and I must admit it is highly amusing to see the things some doctors do unknownst to themselves. Post call doctors are the most amusing of all doctors. LOL.

Well done for the laugh!! I thoroughly enjoyed that!!! :D

one of the guys i worked with went around the wards on call in the middle of the night with his belt around his neck instead of his stethoscope!

Another fella snores a lot and we would be in conferences the next day and every now and then you would hear a chainsaw firing up at the back for a minute until someone would elbow him.

I have fallen asleep so many times at a desk post call its unreal - the funny thing is if you keep moving and keep your mind active on a problem, you can stay focussed and awake.

I usually remember to wear trousers...... ;)

    Lolz. these stories are hilarious.

I had an SHO come into my office one day, about 3 weeks ago, and he came in. Sat down. And has no idea whatsoever as to why he was there. I had to gently help him along and try to ply some information from him. Thankfully, he also remembered his trousers!!:)

Wow. I've just started doing research in a university school of medicine, and a MD who is currently sharing my computer came in after work to use my computer. She had her stethoscope around her shoulders, and I honest to god thought she was one hell of an arrogant cocky so-and-so for waltzing around accessorizing with medical paraphernalia to let the whole world know she was a doctor.

It seems I may have been a bit harsh in my assessment. Yet again, boards has educated and informed me!
