URGENT!!! Rent Allowance

    Hi

Sadly me and my partner have decided to go our seperate ways. We recently had a beautiful baby boy. She saw a lovely new apartment for €1100 per month. The landlord is asking for a month's deposit and a month's rent upfront, totalling €2200 (that's pretty standard, right?)

Anyway, she doesn't have the money to pay that. I of course want her and our baby to be comfortable and safe, so I've volunteered to pay it all. She said she'd pay it back to me. Here lies the question:

Will the Rent Allowance Scheme cover this? No way would I ask her to pay me back that money out of her own pocket. She is currently not working (she's worked since she was 16 and she wants to be there with the baby boy so fair play to her) so she is receiving child benefit. She may apply for FIS. I'll also be paying her maintenance of €360 per month, plus €150 per month loan repayments on her behalf.

I don't mind giving her the money but I scraped that together and I could do with the cash (maintenance plus other expenses for the baby will leave me near on broke). So if she takes the cash, pays it to the landlord and then applied for rent allowance (she said that's the way it works---you have to be there to claim it) would she then get the money back, to give to me?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm very anxious! It's a tough enough time already!
