Cutter Plotter Query?

Hi. I got a Rabbit 1360 cutter plotter on Ebay from China, it came with 3 cd's too intsall, disc 1 is the software for the cutter plotter, disc 2 is the software to design the graphics and disc 3 is the usb driver software.
After a few attempts I managed to install disc 1 and 2. I am having problems with disc 3. The cutter plotter will print using a 9 pin Com cable or a USB cable connected to my lap top but on my Vaio lap top I do not have a 9 pin com port. I cannot install disc 3 sucessfully. Is it possible to buy a cable that will have 9 pins on one end and usb on the other, and if so do you think it would work? Thank you. Paul.

Hi Eamon that looks like it will do but do you think the lap top will reconize the signal from the cutter plotter? I'm not a very computer person, but USB and the 9 pin cable are they different formats? Thanks. Paul.

I don't see why not - wouldn't be much point in making adapters if that was the case:)

BTW I'd be interested to see how you get on with it was thinking of getting something similar myself as I do some graphic design and was thinking of branching out without spending too much to start with!

Hi Eamon, my other half bought that Rabbit 1360 Cutter Plotter on Ebay for my birthday last May (2008), it has taken me weeks of emailing the seller several times to finally get my Vaio Lap Top to accept the Plotter using the USB cable, if I had of bought the 9 pin to USB cable it wouldn't of worked because my problem was the software, for example, the plotter will work if I connected the plotter to a PC using only com to com (9 pin), but wouldn't work using USB as I got a seperate CD for the USB Drivers and the problem was installing the drivers. I have very little computer knolwedge so if I can do it so can anyone. Anyway I told you I'd let you know how I got on, the seller's name is Wang and here are their details www.signtech.com, I have to say they were excellent, all my many queries they helped me with and always answered my questions, I would recommend them 100%. Best of Luck. Regards, Paul
