Andrei, for those who do not know - is a top tier mixed martial arts heavyweight. He's currently training with Freddie Roach and will make his debut on the undercard of Casamayor/Marquez.

Arlovski's hands are pretty decent, but he has a chin made of class. Still, he's very athletic, strong and is training under a good camp. It will be interesting to see what he can do - My guess is probably not much. But stranger things have happened.

No surprise there. He is big stuff in the States right now, he obviously has a good agent. He is still fighting, and he is acting as well. The reason for this is PR american style.
As you said, he has a glass jaw and I don't see him fighting anyone decent.

he does a serious amount of boxing training and is capable with his hands, i see more mma fighters following him too, way more money to be made in boxing. Thats why silva wanted to fight jones.

A chin of Glass or Class ? I dont know how he will do in boxing we will have to wait and see. Now we need a top boxer to cross to MMA

While the guys at the top make more money, I read the paydays of a couple of top tier boxing cards and top tier mma cards, and overall - the undercard guys in boxing were making like €1500.

Now you have to take Andrei, in an MMA fight today, after sponsorship - he will probably go home with something in the region of $500,000 or even more. I don't see him making the same in boxing as he hasn't fought yet, and there's no guarantee he will even win anything. I think him losing to some nobody in boxing will do alot of damage to his career, given the fact that his forte is infact striking.

Glass. I seen him flattened by at least twice. I remember one of his fights against Tim Sylvia and he could not recover from a big punch.

If he wins a few fights he'll possibly get a big fight, in the heavier weights there's potential to make 10 mill easy! As he's a ready made name he'll attract fans and in boxing that means big pay day's. In mma he's peaked money wise.and most mma fans understand the difference in boxing striking and mma so i dont believe it would be a problem going back if he wanted. He's thinking of 1 or 2 big pay day's. Why not.and he can box so its not impossible for him to do well,

He's still going to be fighting in MMA, this is probably only to improve his stand up fighting and his bank balance and profile a little bit too while he's at it .

I don't expect him to be taking on any guys that tough or for his boxing career to be that serious .

Yeah, I'd say it has nothing to do with improving himself as an mma fighter and all to do with pr and money.

I'm sorry what ?, 'this is probably only to improve his stand up fighting' . Did you just totally ignore that bit(the most important part) .

Agreed with Big Ears. It is most likely to focus on his hands. Alot of MMA fighters have done it before like Vitor Belfort. Although, none of them have been on a major card.

Lots of MMA fighters take boxing matches to improve there hands like Keith Jardine had 6 pro boxing matches to prepare for fighting chuck, as he mainly beats people through boxing jardine matched and beat him.
Vitor was a proper amteur boxer and was in the brazilian national team,

Arlovski is a big name and with a few wins could sell a lot of tickets in boxing in the states, it depends on wheter he fights cans or real boxers if he's plans on trying to get a big fight, if he does he'll stick to boxing as at the top the money is far better.

Agreed, Dennis Kang got Ko'd by kaoklai in a Muay-Thai fight which was shown in a big arena and on national TV in japan and it didnt hurt his popularity amongst MMA fans in japan where he;s best known.

I can actually see him doing well, as u say, he certainly can box, and with Roach as his mentor he could go far. He has all the tools anyway. Maybe not to be HW Champ but certainly to be somewhat successful.

Dennis Kang's fight against Kaoklai was 4 years ago, before anyone ever knew of who Kang even was. Prior to that, he was fighting in South Korea. Besides, the problem is not losing to a world class fighter (Like Kaoklai) - It's getting punched around by a can, when Arlovski is supposed to be one of MMA's elite strikers (which he isn't anyways). I'm not saying that he will - but if he does, it will be used by boxing analysists to put down mixed martial artists.

MMA and boxing debates are **** and genuine fans dont like them, fight fans tend to like both when they give them a chance!

If he loses so what, its like me losing in a sub wrestling event! it happens as its not my a game.

To me he has nothing to lose and lots to gain, wheter its boxing experience or money, there is something to gain.

It's a little bit different Paul, as your forte is striking. But Arlovski's current base is his hands, which translates more to boxing than your boxing would do to submission wrestling. I'm not saying it would be the end of his career, but it would certainly feed the likes of lou dibella and give them fuel to attack MMA.

As you know, I'm an MMA first and foremost, but also a fightfan all-over. I just don't want to see creeps like Dibella to talk down to MMA competitors.

On the subject of UFC fighters who have done some boxing, former UFC heavyweight champion(although no longer a UFC fighter)31 year old Ricco Rodriguez lost a SD in his second heavyweight fight to Chad Davis . This was Davis' second fight aswell, having lost his first .

It was on the undercard of Kevin Kelley's comeback fight(ya you did read that right) over journeyman Jaime Palma . Kelley turned 41 just over a week ago .

What does this all mean ?, well nothing really I just thought some might be interested .

Apparently, Ricco got robbed of a decision. I read it from someone who was training with Kevin Kelley and was watching that card. Ricco's hands haven't ever been overly impressive anyways. He hasn't been able to get himself in shape properly over the last few years. When he was UFC champ, he was around 235lbs - Now he finds it hard to even make 265 and has been at 310lbs at one point.

    .

I agree, though I much prefer boxing as I train and love the history of the sport and the characters it has produced I have the utmost respect for mma fighters.

It's just some of the "fans" I notice (Usually American, adolescent. The type that used to be in to wwe) always stirring something....they seem to think that wearing Tap-out clothing makes you some kind of expert.

As for Arlovski, I remember he was the next big thing (being compared favourably by some, to Fedor) until he got sparked by Sylvia.

Will be interesting to see what he looks like in a boxing ring.

I take it Kevin Kelly is skint?

I love watching his fight with Naseem on youtube, brilliant fight...
