is that almost 8yrs ago  yep that was my 5th fight - was fun back in those days when a bjj white belt with no stand up or clinch could be the 'superfight' :D

its funny that paul mcveigh fought davy patterson....considering paul now fights 61kgs and davy i think is about 84kgs?? lol

i remember dave roches fight with alan lowry also....some nasty leg kicks from dave...and also the incident with stevie rice headbuttin someone haha i trained with him and frankie for couple of weeks after that - good times

I would pay good money to see that exact same line up again. It'd be like when they do that thing on Never Mind The Buzzcocks except with fighting, obviously.

I'd say given that it was 8 years ago, the amount of guys from that list still heavily involved in MMA is quite large, and I'm only going on the names I recognise or know.

To put it into context, I first heard about an Irish MMA scene 5 years ago :D. It's mental the way it's grown so fast.

They were the days when you showed up to fight Paddy just emptied a bag of gloves [ all well worn I may add and stinking!! ] onto the floor at the rules meetings and you had to try to find a decent set that fitted!!
Some good guys around at the time but not so many still involved in the scene.
Still,it would be a laugh to see how some of the fights would pan out now!

plus I'd like to see David Patterson try to cut to under 65k!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol

I know Peter Lav and G. Keys are still teachin in Belfast. I was speaking to Angel (Purple Belt) from GBNI who meets up and trains with Stevie Rice still. He speaks very highly of his stand up.
