Subtitles disappear using Roxio Toast 9 to copy a DVD. Is there some setting I need to change?

I assume you're burning an avi file or something with a separate subs/srt file, yeah? Afaik because the subs aren't hardcoded Toast can't do anything with them. You'll first have to use ffmpegX to either render the subs on to the video or create a Video TS folder with subs which Toast can then burn.

No, just an ordinary VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS type. And when I play the original, or copy these files and their contents onto my hard drive, VLC plays them fine, with the subtitles.

That's strange then. What tab in Toast are you using? The Video TS tab should burn everything.

I've switched to Toast 9, and am not at all familiar with it - it's quite different from what I'm used to.

(By the way, it keeps telling me an update is available. I downloaded the update and dragged it into the Apps folder as requested, but it doesn't seem to have... done whatever apps do to update themselves.)

There are five tabs: Data, Audio, Video, Copy and Convert.

    I've tried Video and Copy.

Copy sort of works - you can see the subtitles on the Mac, if you fooster around a bit, but not on the TV.

Video doesn't copy the subtitles. I dragged in the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders and told it to burn them to a DVD, and it gave me a bewildering list of sizes (sizes???)

I left it at its default.

How big is the video ts folder? Is the dvd-r big enough for it?

Also is there anything in the Audio TS folder?
