I'm not sure if you mean a once off super sub that changed the course of a particular game. If so, I could name a few.

    Seamus Darby
    Eamonn Taffe
    Peter Canavan
    Jody Devine

ah fitzy, i thought that'd come up alright.

Yep once off are usually the memorable ones, it's the nature of super subs really, if they do it regularly they tend to get started! Long live the super sub!

    Indeed, very good.

Actually the best ever was Pauric Brogan, Mayo V. Donegal, 92 AI SF.

Slightly backfired for Mayo though! The Wee man gave the traitor a warm welcome! :D

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

That point he scored from a free against Dublin (levelling the game) in the dying seconds of the All-Ireland Quarter Final in 2001 at Thurles was the finest display of a Footballer I have ever seen. And he had to do it with Tommy Carr the former Dublin Manager, swearing at him and spitting on the ground in front of him. I thought it was inspirational. Didn't Kerry trounce Dublin in the following replay?

Eoin McGrath last year for Waterford. That's one thing I'd like the new management to keep up.

Very true although I do wonder if he actually punched/made any contact with the ball as it went in.It seemed like he went to put his hand to it,missed and went straight in the goal..

As for my choice,Jason Sherlock has to be one.Scoring that goal against Wexford in 2005 and those two goals in 2 mins against Longford in the O Byrne Cup Final.

Dermot McCabe. Completely destroyed Down on his own when Cavan were losing by 7 points, to win the game for Cavan by 4 points. He was injured and had two Down men marking him. One eventually got sent off due to frustration.

David Brady for Mayo, always boosted team morale and floored a few fellas within 5 mins, the Vinny Jones of Connaught.... Possibly Ciaran McDonald........ wouldnt mind the golden god coming back in the squad for the last 15 mins of games....

David Brady - lesser men would've crumbled against Whelan in 06 when Whelan took McGarrity out of the game. Brady put him on his arse, literally.

Kevin O'Neill - Again for his 06 exploits. Changed the Connaught final that year against Galway. Great man for the final ball.

If we are talking of a single incident impact sub where one player entered the field of play and changed the course of a game, there is no doubt who the best one in the last few years was.(im totally impartial of course) BARRY OWENS a two time full back all-star undergoes heart surgery in january 2008 and is ruled out for the season (thats what we think) he returns to light training with the county panel at the end of april. On june 22nd he enters the fray at healy park omagh in an ulster semi final against the third favourites for the all ireland (derry) to a rapturous round of applause. He is pitched in at full foraward, one minute later he rises to fist home the goal which puts fermanagh ahead and propels the erne county into our first ulster final for 26 years. BEAT THAT!

For all those Clare people they will remember 1995 for 2 things
    1. Summer was sunny and hot ..
    2. Winning first All -Ireland hurling title since 1914

Anyway enough of the history lesson and back to the topic.

The winning of the 1995 All -Ireland was a goal scored with a few minutes to go in the final by a sub called Eamon Taffe down at the Canal End.
He had been on the pitch for a few minutes and was in the right place at the right time to hammer a low ball.. high into the Offaly net from an Anthiony Daly free with only a few minutes left to play
Then while celebrating the goal ...he was substituted himself .....

IMPACT or What ??? UP THE BANNER

That was a good one.Think that should be in the thread "Championship memories" post All Ireland.Unfortunately, there has not been many great outstanding moments bar Wexford coming back against Meath,Cork against Kerry,Barry Owens goal against Derry and Wicklows win over Kildare.

Hurling - Kevin Murray (Cork) In the 90's this guy was THE supersub. In times of difficulty, Cork called on him, and he rarely let them down. Murray seemed to score at least two points when he was introduced to the full forward line in any given game, can remember him rattling in scores against Limerick in '94 and '96 and also scored a point when introduced in the All Ireland final of '99.

Football - Mike Frank Russell (Kerry) Got Kerry to the all Ireland final in '97 with a couple of supersub displays, particularly in the semi final against Cavan. He has also been brought in off the bench to great effect in Munster finals this decade against Cork and Limerick.

Honourable mentions to Redser O'Grady (Tipp) and Vinny Murphy (Dublin) for hurling and football respectively.

From a very biased point of view :D

    Seamus Darby 1982 & Pat O'Connor 1994

Eamonn Taafe - that name haunts me :(

Pardon my ignorance on this as I havn't read the whole thread but did anyone mention Vinny Murphy V Kerry in Thurles in (was in 2002?)
All the sweeter as the Kerry County Board had ignored him for years when he was living in Tralee and topping the scoring charts in the County League every season.

It was 2001.I heard we went down to Kerry for a while and was getting on well but in what way were the KCB "ignoring" him?

I saw him a few weeks ago at a match I refereed. He's with St Monicas in Edenmore.

He made himself available to play for Kerry but was ignored. At the time he was well worth his place on the Kerry team.
Mind you he did play with the Kerry Hurlers.
