Had a read of the articles myself at lunchtime. Just love :rolleyes:the quote from "An architect in Dublin" where he say "we would find employing a technician/technologist a bit of a luxury and would only do it as a short term fix" and then goes on to say that a Part 2 qualified architect or even Part 1 student would be a better investment of time and money as they will be more valuable and be better able to handle a greater range of work.

S/he goes on to say "In a small or medium sized practice you can rarely afford to have specialists-everyone needs to be able to do everything-deal with clients, design, run contracts etc as well as just draw and detail etc"

We have a long way to go yet, if that's how architects think of us.

Cormac Allen's interview is informative and interesting.

in the interest of good house keeping of the fourm, maybe one of the mods will merge this with this thread.

was beginning to wonder did anyone subscribe to PLAN Magazine apart from a few fools like us.

Isn't that what us Technicians are about  At least thats the impression i got from college, from the variety of things we learned and seeing what architects learn (having them come in to us for advice on certain things we learned very early on in our course).
