What were your fave TV shows from years ago?

    I LOVED:
    -Dawson's Creek
-Sweet Valley High (why don't they show reruns :()
-Popular (does ANYONE remember this? anyone I say it to always looks at me blankly)
-Glenroe (PMSL - oh c'mon, what else was on Sunday nights?!)
-BB2 (none of the others have compared to it......)
-Are You Afraid of The Dark? (even the opening music had me hiding behind a cushion)
-California Dreams (best teen sitcom ever!)

USA High - Had a crush on Jackson ;)
Saved By The Bell - The original, NOT any of the stupid sequels
Lois & Clark - Sometimes catch re-runs on Living

I also remember an Austrailian programme about a girl from the future called Alanna. She wore a headband around her forehead that lit up blue and did stuff, but I can't remember what exactly it did.

Anyone know the name of that one?

The girl from tomorrow. Sister was mad into it. The headband could levitate stuff.

    Round the twist.
I went to Australia recently and we visited the lighthouse from round the twist!
    That was actually a highpoint.
    Australia sucks.

Bonus points for the episodes of Dawson's Creek starring one of the babes from Sweet Valley High!

Loved California Dreams. And the short-lived Young Americans and Malibu Shores. Can't get any of the last three even on DVD or TV repeats.

Another fine example being a show about a boy that turned into a dog. It was called Woof!

Anyone remember the Electric Eskimo? Now thats going back in time.

I not only remember it, I have both seasons on DVD and re-watched them recently. Under-rated show that was often taking the proverbial out of all other teen shows.

Popular was great. You see a few of them popping up in different things. The main blonde girl in ER a while back, dude with glasses in Ugly Betty.

Freaks and Geeks- that was such a good show. Such a shame just one series.

The Girl from Tomorrow, love that!

and this...........Halfway Across the Galaxy and Turn Left

Anyone rememeber that show were the this fella would get the newspaper from the following day and he would stop the bad things from happening. I think it used to be on TV3. There was another programme on TV3 about these two cops whho used to do these martial art moves. Man when you didn't have Sky you'd watch anything.

    Some quality shows here!

I loved Sweet Valley High and thought that when I was 16 I would be just like them, driving my own little jeep.

I also loved Baywatch and Lois and Clarke and used to cry when I missed them for Saturday night swimming lessons and mass.

Since I was a videogame nut as a kid, I used to look forward to Gamesmaster on Channel 4 every week, especially when they would give some spotty teenage nerd his fifteen minutes of fame to show off his gaming prowess.

Also Crystal Maze used to be on after it. Quality show

Think the last one you're asking for is Martial Law. It was on friday night around 1999 on TV3

Does anyone remember an australian tv show (might have been from new zealand). It was about a kid who was in a coma after some accident. He would be in a fantasy world (where all the adults were gone, I think?) and try to find his way back. It would also intersplice with what way going on in the Real World?

I LOVED that programme. It was brilliant. There were a few adults, but they were evil or something. I didn't much like the ending though.

    Also loved:

    - Round the Twist
    - Neighbours
    - Clarissa Explains All
    - Sabrina The Teenage Witch (still watch repeats)
    - Woof (thanks for the memory!)
    - Mike and Angelo
    - Third Rock from the Sun
    - Captain Planet (I became a planeteer!!)
    - James Bond Junior (class theme tune)
    - That programme bout a girl who lived with her dad and a dog in an apartment in New York or something, can't remember what it was called
    - Different Strokes
    - V (Sky One Friday nights, the plus to growing up in Dublin!!)
    - Grange Hill
    - Byker Grove
    - Art Attack (still do if I'm home early enough)
    - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The above isn't all either, I watched far too much tv when I was growing up :o

Some of the cartoons I used to love as a kid.

    Visionaries
    Dungeons & Dragons
    M.A.S.K
    C.O.P.S
    Dino riders
Defenders of the Earth ( Flash Gordon + Phantom, whats not to love:D)
    He-Man
    Bravestarr
    Thundercats
    Willy Fog
    Galaxy Rangers

Many more I can't think of at the moment. Used to get up at 6am to watch tv on a Saturday. Not a hope of that anymore.

The mention of The Girl From Tomorrow made me think of another show I watched on TCC as a kid but I couldn't think of the name. I just did a bit of searching and found out it's called Johnson and Friends.

Anyone else watch this? Here's the intro...

    Oh The Crystal Maze!

As someone who didn't have 'the multichannel' I used to plan trips to my friends' houses for when the Crystal Maze was on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,675 ✭✭✭ronnie3585

Can't believe I forgot the Crystal Maze - what a show! I liked the bald guy (I think his name was Richard) a lot more than the English toff guy that was in the later series. My favourite area was the futuristic area, christ the memories!

I had the Crystal Maze board game! Can't remember the areas on the show really but I think there was an Aztec one?

Aztec, Industrial, Future and Medieval I believe. I think one of the zones was replaced in the latter series.

I really enjoyed the show and always hoped the contestants would get locked in... But they lost out when Richard O'Brien left and his constant mutterings about his Mumsie.
