ok, i have a video file that is 720X576 encoded with black bars at the top and bottom. is there any mac software that can (easily) crop out the black bars and re-encode the video?

i have also posted this to audio-video editing

    cheers

    ffmpegX

when you load in your video you can select to do an auto-crop....this'll select only the actual footage to re-encode, and not the black bars.

Used Cleaner many moons ago and it was great ( encoding, cropping etc ). Came free with a camera or something, now owned by Autodesk and is expensive. There is a free trial but I dont know the limitations.

. . . I think the OP asked specifically for Mac software !! This is a Mac forum after all.

+1 for ffmpegx - terrific FREE app :)
