    If your poll has incremental measures (for example, lesser to greater) along a bi-polar continuum, seven (7) would allow for more variability in measurement than a poll with fewer than seven. And because seven is an odd number, it allows for a choice in the middle of the distribution. But is it the right number of options? Once again, it depends upon what you are attempting to measure.
