A minimum of 7 so your poll is useless.

How many options for a poll? Depends on what you are trying to measure.

If your poll has incremental measures (for example, lesser to greater) along a bi-polar continuum, seven (7) would allow for more variability in measurement than a poll with fewer than seven. And because seven is an odd number, it allows for a choice in the middle of the distribution. But is it the right number of options? Once again, it depends upon what you are attempting to measure.

Doesn't matter. Everyone just votes for their favourite colour anyway. Go yellow option 3!
