Laptop problem

I have an Acer laptop, haven't been able to start it for a few weeks now..

Each time it starts up, a blue screen appears with the following message:

    checking file system on C:
The type of the file system is FAT32.

One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check but it is stringly recommended that you vontinue.

to skip disk checking, press any key within 10 seconds.

If I allow the disk check to go ahead, it starts but doesn't even get past 0 per cent complete before the entire screen goes blank.

If I skip disk check, I get to the screen where I'm prompted to log in with my username but it won't let me log on - a box appears on screen saying there's a problem the c drive and it urges me to run chkdsk utility. But again, the screen cuts out and goes blank.

Anyone know what I can do to fix it? Please and thanks.

    hard driveprobably bjorked badly ...

you can try tinkering around with some of these utitlies. of all else fails i think theres something on there to help you migrate your files over to a new drive befor that one completely fails:

    http://ultimatebootcd.com

Burn the ISO of that, and boot your computer from the CD.
