trying to mix without headphones though is difficult and don't you need a good sound card?

its not ive been doing it the whole time without headphone, funny you mentioned that i only got a soundcard 2day :p you need a soundcard to use headphones unless your mixer has one built in! here's the set up i have now

    Dell inspiron 1520 2ghz
    Creative sound blaster surround 5.1
    numark total control
VDJ/cue traktor (never use it tho)
and a set of bose speakers nearly 20 years old and still sounding perfect, solid as a rock :D

I use this kit for my gigs all the time:
    00DJ MK III
    PCDJ FX + KJ
    Virtual DJ Pro
    KAM KCM350 Mixer
    Kool 1750WAmp
    2 X 800W Behringer 1520Pro Floor Monitor speakers

I find VDJ better than PCDJ as the search function is better. With PCDJ when you search you get location, track title, artist, genre, length etc, I have VDJ set so I just have title and artist. It's also good it shows songs that match as you type, like autocomplete in your searchbar.

Also I find it real esy to put songs into the waitlist and can change them when I want to. The automix function is good as well, I can put a load of songs in the waitlist, set it to automix and go for a wee, smoke, drink or whatever. I know this isn't the best thing to do, but I've had no complaints and repeat bookings, so must be doing something right!

I never tried Serato yet, I have been using NI Final Scratch with 1210's and CDJ100's but can only use it with standard laptop as it fails to work on the OODJ.

I find the OODJ useless if I want to use it with any third party external amplifier such as the Serato or Stanton scratch amp. Mine gave nothing but hassle crashing because of the USB / Firewire ports are being overloaded, as it is their USB ports are stretched out to the limit with their own built in USB internal sound cards and their 2nd internal USB hard drive.

The OODJ is just fine as a stand alone MP3 /Karaoke player and nothing more than that.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that Run, surely you wouldn't have bought it if it didn't do what you wanted it to do? I understand you had some problems with it, but I thought they were fixed? If you are not happy with it, why keep it? Just an observation, not wanting to start a flame war. :)

Vdj pro doesnt work on a laptop at the same time as your wireless connection being turned on, the software just randomly stops and doesnt work.

kept happening on my laptop and found the answer to the problem on their official forums.

so streaming straight onto the radio using wireless might be a problem.

unless they have released a fix for it. i havent updated mine. for obvious reasons...

What is the point of the OODJ having three independent USB ports and a fire wire port if the machine itself is incapable of handling them? Are they there for decoration? I have come across several posters on forums that have had the exact same problems. I have noticed that they have since dropped the Firewire port from their current model. I now keep this machine for stand alone applications of which it works fine.

thats got to do with how fast your laptop is, needs a good gpu and sound card. the wireless isnt a problem just unblock the port, i cant get it working with other sites but it works with vdj radio.

Ah that's where mine is different then! I only have the SVGA and S-Video ports. I haven't had any crashes since using VDJ. (famous last words!) Mind you I am wondering what to do when I have filled the HDD? Maybe send it back to the PCDJ elves and get a bigger one fitted!

I haven't had a crash since I got it back, but there again I haven't been using it with the Final Scratch and decks.

The USB ports will power an external hdd if it has its own seperate power supply, If you are using a 2 1/2 external HDD direct from the USB with no power sourse it will probably crash. You have 500GBs already!!! what more do you want??

I used an external HDD on my Dell before I got the 00DJ, it had file checking software in it and would check each file before accessing it, this caused problems! I have used about half of the 500GB so far and that's in a year! It's the karaoke tracks and the videos that take up the most space.
