this isn't just me I think apple have changed it.

is there any way to fix it. I dont know why they want to make macs less effecient. Its quite vexing.

I think I answered this in the other thread. Cmd-X works fine everywhere bar the Finder, where the Cut function was never available. This is on 10.5.4. If it won't work for you then something's gone wrong. Where exactly are you trying to use it?

in the finder. I am sure it used to work in the finder.

Nope. A little silly that it doesn't, but not the end of the world IMO.

However, if you really want it, FileCutter will provide the functionality in a contextual menu (it's shareware, costs $5, or €3.19). If you then want a shortcut for this, Shortcuts looks like it'll do the trick, and it's free.

I don't stand over either of these apps, I just found them by Googling. Those links came from Macworld by the way, in case you're worried about security. Macworld has reviews of both of them too.

    Hope it helps :)

Edit: Hmm, it appears that these two don't play nicely together. While FileCutter works fine, I haven't been able to assign it a keyboard shortcut. There are other means of adding cut and paste though. If you Google 'macworld +filecutter' to bring up the review, a few other products were linked.
