BT problems Galway area

    Typical.....

I upgraded my BT service from 2Mb to 3Mb about a month ago (in the naive hope that Eircon would meet it's 8Mb roll-out target). Now I can barely achieve speeds of a 1Mb connection.

So I rang them up, some guy tries to fob me off with the 'reset your router sir, then you'll be good as new' chestnut. I explained politely to him that I know my stuff, so he decides to come clean, and say 'we've known about a problem in your area for over a week', then says 'there's no lead time on an engineer fixing it'. What kinda bollox is that???

Anyone else have any problems in & around Galway city, if so please badger them or stick a toe up their arse.

    Thanks
    Mojo.

    Mojo.

Whats the name of you're router? Can you post your downstream/upstream, Noise margin, Line Attenuation.

It could be just that your telephone is not suitable for 3MB.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I checked that out just before I upgraded.

    For info:

    Zyxel prestige 660.

    D/S Noise Margin 37db Attenuation 23db
    U/S Noise Margin 18db Attenuation 15db

Same here in Oranmore, download speed dropped to 1Mbps. One day my upload was ridiculously slow, I rang up, they told me the same blabla, reboot the router...blablabla...
It's the first ime in a year that it's this bad, I'm annoyed to pay so much for 1Mbps instead of 3.
They should at least not lie and tell us there are things going on...

By the way, the BT site mentions where people are going to be upgraded, there is no mention of Galway:mad:...only parts of Limerick, Cork and the usual East coast.

I advice you all to keep calling them.

it does look like there is an issue... but they might need to build up a case! so the more people calling the quicker...

So dont give up! keep calling!

    Just an update:

I sent a stern email to BT on friday, (this is probably just a co-incidence) and since then my speed has been running at full pelt all weekend. :)

Power to the people or Complete fluke? ..............ehh who cares!

    Cheers
    Mojo
