Problems with Sony Ericsson W890i

I bought a SE W890i over the weekend from Meteor (I'm bill pay, have been for a year), as I like SE and it was getting good reviews on the introweb

But very disappointed by it. I had a Sony Ericsson 810i before which I loved, but the W890i seems to have terrible sound quality and signal. There is a large amount of distortion with people's voices who I am talking to to the point there I can't make out words, and people I have run have complained about the same from my voice

I read that turning off 3G can make a difference, but didn't seem to matter.

Anyone else have this phone? Is it working ok? Did I get a dud phone, should I take it back to Meteor (would they even accept it back, or is it a "feature not a bug" as we say in IT)

that shouldn't be happening. bring it back and tell them that the sound is distorted. you have 28 days before they'll send it off for repair rather than give you a replacement

Been reading online about a lot of people with signal woes with this phone. Which is annoying because the reviews I trusted said signal and call quality was a plus.

From reading online I noticed that while talking on the phone the signal drops to red. You don't notice this unless you are looking at your screen while it is held up to your ear (which is a bit difficult to do). This is something to do with the antenna being position at the bottom of the phone.

But still, I find it hard to believe that SE would release the phone if it was this bad, and obviously some people (the reviewers) are having no problem.

The network in England people are having this problem with is 3.

Does anyone have this phone on Meteor without any problems?

I will still go back into the Meteor store and tell them what is happening.

Hopefully it is a fault with my phone and not the phone design in general
