What is the best and cheapest way to pick up a sky HD box without having to deal with sky and there installers? I have been looking at ebay and the best deals I can find are €250-€300 surely there must be cheaper out there?

As I seen a thread on here saying €149 for a sky hd box down from 299?

If I am misinformed and the prices are pretty good excuse me!

Ok that price is directly from sky and you said you did not wish to go down that road. Your only other option is if you can find an independent dealer taking part in this which from talking to my colleagues will be few and far between.

Don't forget that you'll need a HD sub to get the Sky HD stuff.

Or you could get Freesat HD, which will give you the free HD channels. The box is about £150 iirc, and is probably the best value HD box in this market at the moment.

You can also get it direct from sky although an independent is the way to go if your local dealer is taking part. http://skyireland.at/satellite?CTY=1&CID=9379

I think it's shocking that in Ireland we pay more for the HD sub and get less HD channels for our money than the UK.

Well as long as people keep paying they will keep charging.

Thats the thing, we dont have a choice.

Lets see NTL? nope dont live in Dublin/Galway and anyway where is there HD?? what s left? $ky...?

It's sad but 'I' like most people will pay for it regardless.

Yes you do, you have chosen not to avail of it. Nobody has a gun to your head, if you do not like HD pricing then do not pay for it.

No, really I have no choice and I'm going to leave it at that, repeating this same line is going nowhere.

then that's not sky'd problem, it's yours. sky offer something for a price, you decide to take it or not, if you can't say no, than that is hardly sky's fault
