I was going to put this in the personal issues forum cause it's p1ssing me off to no extent.

    Where do I start...

Ok, the strongest part of my game used to be from 150 yards in.
I would say 90% of my shots from this range would have been within 20 feet.

My long irons and driving were my down fall. I used to have a slice so wasn't getting the distance or accuracy that I should have been getting.

So I went for a couple of lessons. I now have a really nice draw on the drive, 3 wood and long irons which I am really really chuffed about.

My handicap would have come down by at least 3 or 4 shots if my short game was the same as before. Problem is, now anything from 150 yards in, I am feckin brutal. I'm lucky to get it 20 yards to the pin let alone 20 feet.

I'm either over drawing, hooking it, or pushing it to the right.

I'm half thinking to swing the club the way I did before for the shorter irons and swing the club the new way for the longer irons but I know that's just a foolish thing to do.

Has anyone else had problems where you improve one part of your game but it effects another one.

thats always the way to be honest, best thing you can do is go to the range and only bring up 7,8,9 iron and keep hitting till you get it back. sounds foolish but try imagine your shots as they were before, the feeling you had before you hit them and where you wanted to land it, if you think of a positive outcome it takes your mind off your actual swing and more times than not the outcome is positive

worked for me i had the same problem, just know when you hit a good one why you did and what you were thinking, when it all comes together you will drop your shots

    good luck

I'm going to try that in 45 minutes time at the local range, I'll let you know how I get on,
    and thanks

my only advice without seeing you swing would be ball position. make sure your approach is correct. feet square, shoulders square and ball just left of centre etc

look forward to hearing how you get on
    good luck

Well, amazing how psychology work !
Just back and I was knocking my 8 iron 160 yards probably 9 times out of 10 to where I wanted it with a nice draw.
I hope this wasn't a fluke and I'm back to my old ways. Hopefully can replicate it on the course tomorrow.

    Thanks Buchaill.

thats great well done, what generally happens is when we fill our minds with swings and angles etc etc we confise ourselves. so when we focus on landing areas, good feelings etc we go back to our natural swing as were not thinking so hard on it

or so i am told ha ha

course always feels different, again pick your spots on the course you want to land your ball as oppose to just saying ok kets hit the green, fairway etc, once you narrow your spot down it takes your mind off hooks , knock downs etc and your focus is on a much smaller area so your bad shots should be still very acceptable

its ok this advice was on the house
next one will cost ya ha
