I have a columbia omnitec parka skier waterproof jacket.

recently the zipper on the outer shell started giving me trouble. At the very bottom of the zip, on the "male" part of the zip ( the part at the bottom that goes into the slider), its getting frayed at the very bottom. sometimes this causes problems as the "male" part needs some effort to fit in correctly so that i can zip up the jacket.

The jacket is great apart from that and was wondering if this can be repaired?

Here is a zipper diagram. The part that is becomming tattered is the heat seal patch, behind the pin ( what i referr to as the male part)

anyone face this and resolve it?

If its a specialised zip then you may need to send it back to the manufacturer, its is a bog standard zip you might be able to get it fixed in a clothes alteraters or even a cobblers.

duno if its a specialized zip. as the jacket is part of what columbia call a "system" where layers can zip together, i guess it would be specialized.

i have emailed columbia customer service for europe today and have yet to get a response. il give them another day and mail again.

you dont expect a zipper to start going on an 8 month old jacket, thats only used half that time, and only too and from the office.

I wouldn't be that suprised if a columbia zipper went after 8 months. They have a poor reputation for quality.

Good to hear. Should keep the rain off you during this wet season we're having.
