Im calling it now - colder then average. We have seen so far dramatic warming of the Stratosphere. This means that if even the sharpest fall occured right now it would not be enough to prevent a cold winter. Expect the UKMO to follow suit with its prediction and more snow to fall in Ireland for more then 39 years.:D

no seriously 42 is too much it was that temp at the GP this year, the wind was like having really hot hair driers all over your body, constantly

Depends what part of the country you're in relative to humidity. 42 degrees here is the same as early 30s in Queensland i.e. lovely.

Agreed ... it's the humidity kills me. Dry heat I have no problem with ... spent a week touring (part of) the Sahara once @ 40 + temp, nearly 0 humidity, and was far more comfortable / alive than I've been on many Irish summer days (when we actually got summer days!)

here, in winter, we got loads and loads of snow :) and I expect it for next year too! but just take a look at how pretty it can be! (I won't bother saying anything about the ice, the slipping, the slush, the brown muck about the place after it's all ploughed to the side of the road, the cold wet feet....)
I imagine in Ireland the snow wouldn't be as much fun either, it would be very wet snow. Here if it's dry, it's nicer at -13 than it is at -2 when wet and windy.

Yeah, I think it will be a cold one as well. Last Summer was poor and there was feck all snow in the Winter, so with this Summer being such a scorcher then logically that means i'll be snowed in this Winter.

Right, I'm off to buy a shovel now before I get ripped off later in the year :)
