As far as I know Asgard specialise in young and provisionally licensed drivers. This might explain the saving. I don't know much about them. Lloyds have been underwriting fleet policies over here for years via various specialist companies so I don't see why there would be any major issue with private policies underwritten by them.

Read the small print of their policy, then compare it to the competiton.

Their policy may not include things like windscreen cover, roadside assistance, claim excess, NCB protection, etc. These could be included in the quote of other policies. The savings you make on the premium could cost you more if you have to fork out for a new windscreen yourself.

cheers for the replies .yeah am gonna ring them in the morning and see wot the story is and what the policy includes.

Bazz26 is absolutely correct. I had Asgard comprehensive policy from insure.ie, they are cheap compared to other insurance companies. Whatever Bazz26 has put on is 100% correct. Please make sure what their policy includes before taking any step.

    Thanks.

I was on to this crowd today. Found them via google search. I am on a first provisional insuring a 1.4 toyota corolla. the offered me 1090 euro for comprehensive insurance with windscreen cover and an ecess of 390. NO roadside assistance though. Nearest other offer was AIB at 1700 but that included 24 hr roadside assitance and breakdown cover. They also would reduce that to 1330 if i paid 75 euro and passed the Ignition Provisional test which is performed by Hibernian Driving School.

Seems like a too good to be true deal!! They wouldn't tell me who the actual insurer would be unless i agreed to buy the package which i thought was ridiculous! I'm going to ring in the morning when i've more time and ask more questions but looks good.

get a quote thru the website and it will give u the 4 best quotes when u click on it and give a few more details it will tell u who the insurer is before u get to the payment screen

Why not take the cheap quote and join the AA? €232 will buy you maximum AA cover, and you pocket €100.

If it is a 'cost' situation, then the choice is inevitable. I would have my concerns about the flexibility/convenience of doing any administration on such a policy, such as making claims, temporary change of cars etc. I would always chose one of the bigger companies if there wasn't much in the difference because the service is generally better and when there are problems, it can be dealt with directly. ( as opposed to notifying insure.ie, who notify Asgaard, who in turn may have to notify Lloyds etc.)

I work in insure.ie and my policy is with Asgard - never had any problems with them and they are as easy to deal with as any of the other better known insurers.

Their main book of business insure first time drivers, young drivers and drivers with convictions. They tend to be best when you are starting out but they get uncompetitve as you start earning a couple of years bonus maybe pass a test etc. But for people starting out they would be very hard to beat for price.

If you do not accept the quotes from insure.ie they will usually get back to you with a better offer, having said that I can always beat them with my local broker.

hi, i got insured with asgard, also through insure.ie for my first 2 years & i have to say they were very competitive back then.

i have now built up my no claims bonus + am with one of the more recognisable companies. but in saying that, any of the bugger companies are bigger for for reason, i.e putting so much money into advertising.

obviously they pass this expense of on us the customer.

but to sum it up, i was insured for 2 years, they were the cheapest, had 1 windscreen claim which was done straight away. once my renewal price got to around 700, insure.ie placed me with another company who deal with my type of criteria.

What is the minimum excess on their policies?

x/s ranges from 126.00 - 380.00 depending on age licence etc can be as high as 500 if you have convictions
