Im goning to Bulgaria on Sat and need to buy some suncream. Im quite fair with red hair so want to get at least factor 30 or 40. However being a broke student I am also looking for it to be affordable. I'll need about 2 bottles. Has anyone heard anything good/bad/indifferent about the Boots Essentials suncreams?

I cannot recommend highly enough the piz buin once a day factor30..wore it in turkey where it was hot 40degrees with a sea breeze and didnt burn once(and i burn irish winters). i was actually surprised at how well it worked. loads of ppl round the pool were using it too! my travel buddy has red hair and pale skin and she found it fab too..plus its half price(7.50)in tesco as well as the other suncreams...so head to tesco and enjoy your hols!

I've used Boots and had no problems with it, I tan though so I don't know how reliable it would be for fair skin. All suncreams were half price in Tesco last week, I don't know if the offer is still available, but Dunnes still had buy 1 get 1 free this morning so it might be worth your while getting a branded one like Ambre Solaire, Piz Buin or something.

Does anyone know how to tell if a sunscreen is out of date? I bought an Ambre Solaire SPF 30 last June for summer holidays. The bottle is over half full still, would it still be effective? I burn quite easily, and am going to Oxegen this weekend where I hopefully will need sun protection(although with Irish weather, probably won't need to use it!). Would I be better off just getting a new bottle and throwing last years out?

I always use Boots Soltan range and find it very good, and I am super pale!

Boots Soltan also has both uva and uvb protection which is important to protect against both burning and skin cancer. I toast so always use their factor 50+, always works for me.

Like so, and the 50+ isn't like cement like some other suncreams.
