Do you need a proper hat or is it just as novelty item for a one off event?

You might want to try the Joke Shop up by St. Stephen's Green Shopping Centre.

They have a fairly good selection of novelty hats.

I have been all over this country (Australia BTW), NOT ONCE, EVER, Have I seen someone wearing a hat like that in public.
