Does GMIT use "Blackboard" or any other online system like it?

In my current college the majority of notes are available online so you don't necessarily have to attend every single class to obtain vital notes and course content.

Whats the story in GMIT? is it more old school scribble notes down while the lecturer is ranting on or are notes available online?

In the Add On Hons Degree "IT For Business", is a European Language mandatory? What kind of subjects are on the course, and how much business and management stuff is in it?

It uses a website called Moodle http://learnonline.gmit.ie . Obviously you need a GMIT ID to login..
Also , in most courses addendance is recorded and taken into account when it comes to grades and passing exams if your a little under the pass grade.

A bit of both really , but it can also depend on what dept. your in and on the lecturers you get. I know we used to get alot of hard copies of notes and there were also avalable online. And there was always one or two that had never heard of a photocopier and made you write every single drab down...

The online prospectus should answer your last question.

Normally a European Language mandatory, but im also specking from an engineering point of view.

Right so I've just recieved a place offer in the post for "BSc Hons in IT for Buisness".

My application for the course had no mention of a foreign language so I assume it's not manditory.

Still uncertain weather I will accept at GMIT or just continue at my current college. Change can be good but also bad.

In general, what is GMIT like? Is it laid back or very uptight. Does the college have a good reputation? Would an Hons Degree in blah from GMIT look good on a CV?

If I do accept I'd probably want to look into accomidation. I live at home where I am/was attending so there be big changes on the horizon.

A foreign language is manditory in the engineering courses, but im not sure about the one you have mentioned. check the prospectus for all years of the course.

I'm not sure what you mean by this?

The college has good reputation and has won IT of the year a number of times.

Foreign language is not manditory for the mechanical engineering course so you should check the prospectus.

    Anyone recommend any accommodation?

Been looking at the GMIT approved student villages but not sure if they'll be suitable for a 22 year old 4th year.

Looking for something in the sub 85euro region, have a car so parking is required.

have a car so parking is required.
Gleann Rua is always good, its also within walking distance to the college as parking is nearly impossible to get at the college.
