Just looking for some quick advice, I am a bill pay cust with Vodafone and due an upgrade. I am very keen on getting an Nokia N95 if I upgrade with Vodafone it is €339/349 but if I switch to Meteor it would be €169 on the sameish price plan.
Someone said that Meteors coverage is not great, broadband will be slow and not sure they have 3G (not sure what diff that makes not a techie). I do like Vodafone as good coverage and they free texts online. Any reasons not to change?

    1. meteor's coverage is fine

    2. they're in the process of launching 3g but if you use opera mini you won't notice any speed difference anyway and as you say you're a non-techie so you probably wouldn't notice even if there was a difference

    3. meteor also have 300 free web texts a month

Thanks for your reply will the GPS work with Meteor? Does the N95 have wifi so could use it at home with my wireless modem?

yes it will but if you don't have a data package it would be very expensive to use the assisted gps feature

there is often some confusion on this so just to clear it up:

using the gps on the phone is generally free. it costs money to:
    1. use the AGPS feature which roughly finds your location based on which mast you're connected to before using the gps to pin point it. this allows it to find you faster

    2. download maps

you can set the gps to never access the network which means it will never cost you money. and what network you're on makes no difference to the gps in that case. it'll even work with no sim in the phone

yes it has wifi. if you download maps over wifi it doesn't cost anything

Great stuff so there really is no major reason not to swap networks- thanks :) I presume I can keep the same number

What about o2 guys? I have my n95 with them and it couldn't be better. Im on a basic Active life priceplan, but I have the HSDPA add on for thirty euro a month giving unlimited internet, email and GPS access.

    Leaves me smiling!
