Its now doing my head in, seeing pitch marks all over the courses at the moment and members of the clubs are the worst offenders.
Today I was playing a 4 ball and I spent most of my time on the greens repairing pitch marks that others left there. I didn't mind too much but the more I got around the worse it was so I only done ones that were near me and my own.

One of the lads was wondering if he didn't have a pitch repair tool what could he use and as I said to him "A tee will do" thats what I use and it does a good job.

WHy on earth do people insist on ruining greens like that?

I always try to repair several pitch marks. It is amazing at the number who don't. I always use one of the long tees (the ones I use for my driver).

I was taught to always repair, so I repair my own and two others on every green. Its easy to spot the fresh pitchmarks, and when repaired those are the ones that recover best. About ten seconds for each. The old ones (dried out) take longer to recover.

When I played P&P many years ago we brought in a local rule of one shot penalty if you failed to repair your plug mark.

I remember when one lad pulled up someone over it. His name was muck after it. He didn't care as he hadn't done anything wrong.

I did someone in a matchplay tournament also.

Hard to enforce as players usually play with their mates.

In the club in P&P I played in you went out with whoever was that.

Only could pick your playing partner for a fourball

I agree. It's shocking the amount of pitch marks this season. i played last night and the number of pitch marks left untouched within a ten foot radius of the hole was ridiculous. i had a 6 foot putt at one hole and had to fix two marks that were in my line.

It was a fairly long hole too which indicates that those making the marks were half decent players who should really have known better.

Such a shame to see good greens being held back by selfish and inconsiderate players.

Yeah we where out last night and I swear spent a good 4 or 5 mins a hole fixing pitch marks between the 3 of us...

You would come up to a green with about 10 pitch marks and all easily visable

I can assure you it wasn't me then... I never hit the ball within ten feet of the hole.. :)
