I have subscribed to setanta sports from last year paying 19.99 per month . Last month decided to cancel the subscription with them .They came back to me with an offer of 7.50 euro per month for 6 months .I know a few others who have been offered this deal when they requested to cancel their subscriptions.

    I'm on 9.99 for 3 months .
Have been with Setanta over a year and have had a half price or better deal nearly all the time .
    Might be time to renegotiate.:pac:

Yeah 9.99 for 3 months is deal 'A' and 7.50 for 6 months is deal 'B', so refuse that first one. Its funny because they sound so scripted!

I was offered Deal B first. Needless to say I accepted.

Me too!! 6 months at €7.50. Great one!

I had to pretend to sound really reluctant. I deserve an Oscar.

    Thanks :D

Would a new subbie like me get that offer or do you have to be an existing customer?

I'd imagine you'd have to ask for it. Say something like "I want to join but the price is a bit more than what I can afford. Are there any offers at the moment?"

It may work. The offer is mainly to stop people from leaving.

Just tell them you friend has the deal, and you'll take on the sub at the price, no more or less.

If that doesn't work, ask to speak to a manager...

Thanks guys. Will give them a call tomorrow - any of you have a number handy?

    Its 0818 20 30 40

but I got no love today, I had to ask for any current offers which I was told there were none. So I'm going ahead with my cancellation.

Does anyone have a geographical number for Setanta. The call centre is in Newry.

    Hi Folks,

Just spoke to customer services after telling them wanted to cancel my account. They told me they had offers and if I would be interested. After I said yes, they then passed me through to the loyalty team. Got a nice bloke who offered me 3 months at €10. I asked was it only for 3 months, he then said could give you 6 months deal for €7.50. I was reluctant but then went for it.

    Thanks OP.

    Bazual.

    Hi peeps,
just a heads up about Setanta's billing services. I rang up in April to cancel as the footie season was nearly over and got offered the €10 for 3 months offer which I took. I only just checked my credit card bill to find out that they've been charging me full whack all the time (€19.99). Rang up today looking for a refund as well as a cancellation and was told to write to their head office in Newry for the refund. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I got offered the €7.50 for 6 months deal. I decided to take the offer as I mightn't get it again judging by some of the posts above but I don't think I have a hope of reclaiming any money from them. They have an office address in Dublin 2 which might get a visit from me soon though.

Bottom line - whatever offer you get from Setanta, check your statements to see if they're over-charging you.

    slan,
    sw

ps this post probably shouldn't be in the bargain forum so feel free to move it to the right one.
