If you take it that the CC is roughly the same price as Golf GTI in the UK, a base GTI here is €35,000 so with our new VRT setup & CC would have lower C02 levels (presumtion) could possibly guess low €30's. As I said guess, and guess only..

I was talkin to a Vw lad i know and he said mid to late forties.(He gave me an exact figure but i forget). There goes the fathers plan to trade up to his dream car, the Mercedes Passat cc:rolleyes:

Mid 40's they can go JUMP, it may be quirky/retro, etc but IMO does not justify pricing similar to a BMW 3 series/Mercedes C class, they will sit & stay in the showrooms like the high end Passats, me thinks...;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,863 ✭✭✭RobAMerc

I had guessed on 5k over a similar Passat as they are 2k ish over in the UK.
Doubt its worth that even -will need to see it in the flesh

Which still is'nt anywhere as good as a mondeo!

The merc CLS looks great when you compare it to an E class
IMO, the Passat CC looks nowhere near as different(Or better) from the normal passat.I dont think it'll sell that well
If you were to buy one it would have to have massive wheels(In the same way nearly all CLS' in this country are got with the massive AMG wheels) rather than the tiny 16 or 17 inch wheels that will undoubtedly be on it standard

that sounds incredibly unlikely. It will be 10k cheaper than that.

In Germany it sells for €30,775 in what will be the best seller for Ireland, the TDI 140. That translates into roughly €39-40k here(changing VAT to 21% and adding 20% VRT), assuming we get the same spec as they do, and that would be believable since the Passat CC goes for over £2000 more in the UK over the Highline model there, and the 2.0 TDI 140 Highline sells for €35,615 here.

Released and effective July 1, 2008, Volkswagen has announced price and specification details for the new Passat CC. Details are as follows:

    - 2.0 liter TDI four-cylinder common-rail diesel unit producing 103 kW/140 bhp and mated to a six-speed manual transmission

    - electronic parking brake
    - Press & Drive comfort start function
    - sports suspension
    - driver, passenger and front side airbags
    - front and rear curtain airbags
    - remote power door locks
    - coming and leaving home function with dusk sensor
    - rain sensor
    - automatic rear view mirror

    - aluminium and burr walnut interior trim
    - power heated door mirrors
    - power windows front and rear
    - automatic rear view mirror
    - multi-functional display (MFD)
    - tire pressure indicator
    - power adjustable sports seats
    - Climatic air-conditioning
    - Alcantara/leather upholstery
    - RCD 310 eight speaker audio player including AUX-in connection
    - 17“ Phoenix alloy wheels with light alloy spare wheel

The Passat CC 1.8 TSI Sport and 2.0 TDI Sport are priced EUR 40,670 and EUR 39,605 respectively.

I thought that was a great amount of standard spec(the Srandard half leather really stands out) until i noticed there only giving Climatic air conditioning, or MANUAL Air con(The same as on a 20K Golf) to put it better. Not good enough for a 40k Car IMO.It'd probably cost the guts of a grand to upgrade to dual zone climatroni!!.What would be the difference in price between say a normal passat 140 TDI Highline spec and this??I know which one i'd buy....

Completely missed that post, that €39,605 sounds like what he said.

I've only started to see adds for it lately, i think it looks smashing. Brother hates it.

Seems well enough spec'd. Cracking looking car, but I think the 120bhp 2.0TDi A4 with a few extras would cost the same and have a stronger residual value.

Just had another look at the previous post with the spec; impressive. No doubt about it, even mates who have slagged me in the past about my VW's are saying its a gorgeous car.

Hope VW up the anti with their quality control as the last three vw's I bought from new had minor paint defects under the laquer which obviously happened in the factory. Local dealer provided excellent service in rectifying the problems.

Any info as to when its released here?

    whoa, get a room ;)

All I can see when I look at it is the love-child of a 3-way between the booooring passat, the nice-6-years-old-maybe Peogeot 607 and that over-weight Golf Eos.

I'm sorry, I know 'beauty is in the eye', but I just cannot see the attraction, from any angle.

Makes you wonder though what VW though of the Passat's boring image, that they had to try sex it up!

ala the CLS being the e-class Merc for people who aren't retired yet

For me its between the passat cc and the A4. Passat cc is a stunner

good point, will it take away from the A4 sales I wonder. Most Passat drivers I know see the A4 as a fancy passat, but will they now pick the CC instead were they to trade up

doubt the will sell many, it just looks like the passat should have, but less practical. In fact looks quite like the opel insignia, except with one seat less and 10k more.

Ive a feeling that insignia will look fairly rotten when opel ireland put their base spec 16" steel rims on it:rolleyes:.It looks too american neway me thinks. Not mad about it even in those promotional pics

Was planning on getting a A4 SE but took the CC for a test drive today. Think I might got the VW.

Anyone got one or planning on getting one.

Was about to ask - Why do we see none on the road. Last one i saw was last Christmas!
OK, recession and all, but still seeing other new stuff. Has it been a failure?

It's a niche model, coupes in general have a small market share. The fact it's a four seater is the real killer for most people. Wouldn't say its been a failure. Although sales for 2010 are expected to be similar to this year, i'd expect this car to see an increase in sales next year. Thats not based on anything in particular, its just a hunch.

    From wiki:
Volkswagen has ambitions of selling 300,000 units over a period of seven years. The company expects that 60% of these sales (about 26,000 units per year) will come from the US market.

Thats a fairly small expectation really so in real terms Ireland is pretty much insignificant when it comes to the CC. Have hardly seen any though to be fair

Ya the 4 seats through me when I sat in. But it looks great. It is the same size as a 5 seater but it makes the back seats more comfy.

I think it measures up well to an A4 and is a lot cheaper.

VW guy told me there are plans for a 5 seater coming out soon
