Boards.ie runs pretty grand most of the time, so I have never created an OP in Feedback before. There is one thing that has occasionally popped up over the past couple of years or so that is frustrating, although I think I understand why boards.ie does it (the need to conserve HD space?). I will be PM'ing someone, and will get a message that says they have exceeded their PM quota. I then try to get a message to them to delete some of their saved PMs, but of course I continue to get the message that they have exceeded their quota.

I would assume that they too are getting the same exceeding PM quota message, and once they wake up to the fact, and clear out some of their saved messages, everything will return to normal?

I dont believe it will. Also, we give a fairly hefty PM allowance so if the person's box is full, its quite likely they arent home (so to speak).

Its a well made point OP, I'm just not sure what we can practically do about it. I also cant say if they get a warning etc (admins have unlimited PMs *sheepish grin*)

Thanks DeV for responding so quickly! How about if I try this...

brianthebard! How about clearing out a bit of space in your PM mailbox so that I can answer your PM? He is online now.

How about leaving a visitor message in his profile telling him this, he'll get a notification then.

I've seen the OP mention this in two different threads now so I'm intrigued. What was the PM about? Sounded urgent. Hope it's something juicy :D

This thread and that thread. Come on what did the PM say? Was it an indecent proposal?

    ...and your response is?

    /Rules:

    No plagiarism
    Extra marks for pictures
Extra marks for correct spelling, grammar and use of punctuation
Top marks for use of exclusive jargon to make the answer seem more intelligent and intellectual than it really is when deconstructed by someone who actually knows what they are talking about.

    :pac:

well i'm on a phone so pics and proper grammar are out the window. However i believe that bolshevik/leninist thinking that a small intellectual elite is required to rule in the interest of the proletariat is incompatible with engels and would require a period of perestoika and a progress shift from NEP thinking to a more decentralised egalitarian rule by the people after a retaking of the means of production from the state.Maybe.

How does the quota work? is that unread only? As I have 561 PMs (all read).

Ha ha, I love it :D I always find it funny that people say that there is too much jargon in science and medicine and use phrases like "blinded with science" and yet the Arts are just as wordy and incomprehensible to the majority of laymen.

9/10 for appropriate use of mystifying jargon. You lost a point for using the word 'Maybe'. Not enough ego in the word 'maybe'. Instead you should have said 'This central argument is of course subject to supplementation and additional input upon presentation of counter-critique relevant to the question at hand.' Or something...maybe :D:D

    /On topic (shock )
Regarding the OP, good call Blue_lagoon, I know with other boards it's possible to set up an email if someone attempts to send your inbox a PM and it's full.

Total PMs, I think, Hobbes. Mod's limit should be a fair bit higher than 561 though?

It tells you how many when you view your inbox:

    Inbox contains xxx messages.
You have xxx messages stored, of a total 5,000 allowed. (Empty Folder)
